The Village (Marry me in France) - Fin & Dom
THE VILLAGE (MARRY ME IN FRANCE) - Fin & Dom

So following on from Fin & Dom's wedding film (here), is this, their Castelnau des Fieumarcon wedding photography at The Village (Marry me in France).
The day started bright weather-wise but soon clouded up and threatened towards the mid-afternoon outdoor ceremony and then sure enough, the heavens opened. A couple of times. And the thunder rolled...
But then as is often the case in this part of France, it soon cleared and the sun shone and the ceremony that had been postponed a couple of times was finally underway.
It was a beautiful outdoor ceremony conducted by the couple's friend Brigitta with additional readings from 3 friends.
A drinks reception followed on the terrace with champagne, canapes and food straight off the plancha during which we found a spot of shade and photographed a handful or relaxed family groups.
The meal took place indoors with dancing to follow. And the rain never made another appearance.
All in all, a beautiful wedding day and run professionally as ever by those lovely people at Marry Me In France led by Beth Stretton.

Castelnau des Fieumarcon Wedding Film - Fin & Dom
CASTELNAU DES FIEUMARCON WEDDING FILM - FIN & DOM

I had been wanting to photograph and film a wedding at Castelnau des Fieumarcon ever since I discovered it a couple of years ago...less than 3 miles from our front door in France.
How can that be? How could I not have been aware of this place after 12 years of having a family home in the neighbouring village of La Romieu in the Gers region?
Well quite simply because if you ever popped up to the hilltop village (more of a hamlet) on any day there wasn't a wedding taking place, you'd mistake it for just another (albeit beautiful) hilltop village that dot the countryside in this region.
But Castelnau des Fieumarcon in the village of Lagarde is a little different. It was for a long time time utterly deserted and left to ruin until it was restored and became available just a couple of years ago for individual house, or exclusive village hire.
I came across it researching local venues when I was planning one of our regular trips to the region and immediately got on so well with Anneli & Didier who manage the place that they very kindly put me on their recommended photographer list, a rare privilege for any photographer who has not actually worked at the venue!
But that small latter issue is now in the past as I was there last Friday photographing and filming the delightful wedding of Fin & Dom and the results from the photography side of that day will be in another post to follow, plus there's another wedding at the venue in a couple of months.
This particular wedding came about due to the kind recommendation of our services by the ultimate wedding planners for a wedding in France and they are Marry Me In France so a big thank you to Beth at MMIF and Laurence who was running the wedding on the day.
For the purpose of this post, below is a Firehorse Photography 'Macro-Film. We offer 2 options in regard to filming and these are the Macro-Film which combines; photography, filming, optional audio highlights, soundtrack and ambient sound capture (the morning chorus and the evening crickets make an appearance in this particular production!). A set of highlight pics can be viewed in another post here.
The Micro-Film is a little more extensive as Julie also films throughout the day from a different perspective meaning we have more than twice as much footage from which to work.
But without further ado, below is Fin & Dom's non-audio Castelnau des Fieumarcon wedding film and we hope you enjoy it!

Chateau de Lisse, Lot et Garonne, Carolyn & Dustin
CHATEAU DE LISSE, LOT ET GARONNE, CAROLYN & DUSTIN

The first weather forecast said rain. All day.The second forecast predicted a mix of sun, cloud and showers. The third reckoned it would be sunny all day.The third was deeply unlikely and so it proved to be...
Carolyn is from the USA and Dustin from Australia and they currently live in Perth, Western Australia, but they chose one of my favourite venues for a wedding in South West France, Chateau de Lisse.
The ceremony had been planned to be outdoors on the terrace below the chateau and even on a dull and slightly misty day, would have been perfect...but alas it was not meant to be as a steady light rain fell most of the early afternoon.
Moving it indoors however worked very well with the ceremony conducted by best friend Didi with a reading by one of Dustin's sisters and another playing flute.
Carolyn wore Melissa Sweet with Vera Wang veil and the groom an Anthony Squires suit.
I love these 'smaller' more intimate weddings and though the chateau does cater for weddings of up to 100, the three I have covered there to date, have all been under 30 in total.

Finally, 'commenting' is switched on in this post so if you'd like to wish the couple all the best, feel free to do so!

Victoria & Craig's Wedding in France (Chateau de Lisse)
VICTORIA & CRAIG'S WEDDING IN FRANCE (CHATEAU DE LISSE)

It didn't rain all day for Vicki & Craig's wedding in France. Just most. Especially later on when the thunder rolled, the lightning struck and the rain was relentless. Spectacular looking out of a window, but not what you were imagining your Summer wedding in this SW corner of France would be like. However, the weather is the one thing you can plan for, but otherwise have zero control over so it's a case of simply getting on with it and enjoying what you do have.
And enjoy it Vicki & Craig did and how could you not at this most beautiful French chateaux, Chateau de Lisse, even if 95% of the day had to be spent indoors.
Vicki wore Tara Keeley sourced from Bride2B Prestwich and hair was by Emma Louise and makeup by VataBeauty.

Chateau de Lisse, Lot et Garonne, Joanne & Ivan
CHATEAU DE LISSE, LOT ET GARONNE, JOANNE & IVAN

Joanne & Ivan though originally from Ireland, have lived in Calgary Canada for the last 4 or so years.
I first met them several minutes before starting the days coverage of their wedding.
I'm always slightly 'nervous' for want of a better term when it comes to not having met clients prior to photographing them and their day as I never quite know what I am going to get and wedding photography is very much about getting all your planets in align, - location/settings, weather, light, subject, composition, cropping/framing and moment.
Fortunately every single planet aligned for their wedding at the delightful Chateau de Lisse and I am becoming quite a regular there having shot a wedding there last year and having another at the end of this month, plus bookings for 2015.
So the location is great, the venue a delight, the people that run it very welcoming (Jo and her husband, chef, Jean-Marc plus Father William & Sister Catherine), the weather was perfect, the light just about as good as it gets and the rest was very much about 'them' and 'me'.
Me, - I always turn up with the same skills, tools and passion for my craft, but what makes the fundamental difference between a decent set of images and the most comprehensive set of results, is the clients and to an extent, the guests.
They couldn't have been better. Both Joanne and Ivan, though a few inevitable nerves, took it all in their stride and their families were both as equally welcoming and laid back.
I also love these small(er) weddings because 'everything' still happens (in this case no speeches or dancing) as at a large(r) wedding, but on a more intimate level and their is something special about that. Just 14 of them at this one.
Full gallery with international print ordering facility available here and Joanne & Ivan, I hope you love the pictures as much as you do each other.

Chateau De La Cazine, Limousin, Gemma & Jack, Day 01
CHATEAU DE LA CAZINE, LIMOUSIN, GEMMA & JACK, DAY 01

Hello Simon,What can we say other than a hugggggggge THANK YOU! You were everything and more that we hoped for and even though we haven't seen the photos yet, we know we will love them. The way you floated about doing your own thing was exactly what we wanted. Everyone complemented us on the way you were and said it was nice to be at a wedding where the photographer remembers the day is about the bride and groom and not themselves! Haha. So thank you so much! We had the most amazing time and the fireworks really topped off a special weekend perfectly. We couldn't have asked for much more.
Well Gemma & Jack, you can now see those photographs from Chateau de la Cazine last weekend, albeit in this post, Day 01 (Day 02 to follow soon!).
The whole weekend was just superb from start to finish with barely a blip. OK, there was a heavy shower after you sat down to eat, but no predicted thunderstorm at 3pm that would have wrecked your planned outdoor ceremony...so even Le Meteo gets it wrong sometimes!
So this is just a 'taster' really, - 2/5ths of ultimately what you are going to receive and in my opinion, really showcases just what value having this two day coverage option is in regard to getting to know each other (family & guests included) and provide the best platform for the wedding day itself.
Anyway, enough of my waffle and on with the pictures...(Day 02 can be viewed here)

Chateau de la Cazine Wedding Photography, Gemma & Jack, Day 02
CHATEAU DE LA CAZINE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, GEMMA & JACK, DAY 02

Following on from Day 01 of Gemma & Jack's wedding at the delightful Chateau de la Cazine not so far from the city of Limoges in Limousin, is Day 02, their wedding day.
The forecast was not looking so good and we had all been monitoring the weather as a heavy thunderstorm was predicted for 2-3pm with the (outdoor) ceremony set for 3pm.
In the end, it did rain and quite heavily, but only after they had sat down to eat and by the time they had finished, the sun was back out so you would almost have not noticed this slight blip in the weather.
Gemma wore a Suzanne Neville number (Gracie) from Go Bridal, Birmingham, matched with Dior shoes and Jack a Paul Smith suit.
The ceremony took place outside the chateau in beautiful June sunshine of picture perfect blue skies and fluffy white clouds, - just as you would want with an outdoor wedding in France in June!
The flowers were by Lisa Gatenby at French Flower Style and the couple honeymooned in Barbados.
A harpist played during the ceremony & drinks reception and during the evening, there was a casino and photobooth and I can show some of the pictures that produced...but not all of them...
The evening ended with a super-dramatic firework display over the chateau which was a perfect grand finale to this perfect 2 day wedding in France.

Chateau de Lisse Wedding Photography, Jenny & James
CHATEAU DE LISSE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, JENNY & JAMES

The Chateau de Lisse wedding photography of Jenny & James
4.30am, Friday 13th September, - woke up in Manchester airport long stay car park, Terminal 1.Parked tight up to a boundary hedge, blanket over head having tried to get at least some sleep since arriving at around midnight.
Such is the typically glamorous start to photographing a wedding in France!
The 6.30am Toulouse Jet2.com flight is too early to warrant a hotel the night before and you just know if you had to get up at home at 2am and leave for a 2 hour airport drive, you'd never get to sleep in the first place...so 'car-tel' it is!
1 hour later, I realised I hadn't checked in my suitcase and was nearly through security, but as it was small enough and despite Jet2.com's 'one piece of hand luggage only!' policy, I decided to wing it and plead ignorance if challenged.
No issues, so repeated on the return journey.
Although I'd spoken to the bride Jenny by email prior to their wedding, we hadn't had the opportunity to meet prior to the day before their wedding day as they live in Australia. And I don't.
So after witnessing the tail-end of their rehearsal with their priest, Father William, we met and had a recce around the grounds of the beautiful Chateau de Lisse (in the Lot et Garonne region) and took the opportunity for a relaxed pre-wedding photo-shoot.
The day itself dawned sunny...but soon clouded up...only to clear up again just in time (almost on cue) for the drinks reception.
A finely cooked meal followed drinks on the terrace and the evening ended with an 'open mic' set of speeches.I think maybe 10+ spoke and considering there was only 23 guests, that must be some kind of record.
Special thanks then to Jenny & James for choosing me to provide their Chateau de Lisse wedding photography. Also to Jo at Chateau de Lisse for her hospitality and kind recommendation in the first place. And to chef Soren, - excellent meal and very much appreciated.
Looking forward to my next visit to the chateau in September 2014!

Côte d'Azur Wedding Photography, Roula & Jaber Day 01
COTE D'AZUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, ROULA & JABER DAY 01

The first contact I received for their Côte d'Azur Wedding Photography from Lebanese couple, Roula & Jaber, was less than 3 weeks prior to their wedding.
It's fair to say I was a little skeptical at first as there are quite a few scam enquiries going around originating from various overseas sources!
This enquiry ticked a few of those boxes, - very short notice, a list of days and venues that sounded a little too fantastical...but something about it rang true...and sure enough, after several conversations by email and phone, the enquiry turned into a booking and we were off to the Côte d'Azur for 3 of the most fantastic wedding days imaginable!
Day 01 consisted of an informal drinks reception at La Festival du Plage, a beachside restaurant on the Cannes seafront and was a great opportunity for Roula & Jaber's guests who had traveled from all over the world, to meet or renew old acquaintances.
The setting was lovely, the light was fantastic, the food great and the people welcoming, - we certainly had no complaints and plenty of material to work with, - a very special evening and start to Roula & Jaber's 3 day wedding.

French Riviera Wedding Photography, Roula & Jaber Day 02
FRENCH RIVIERA WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, ROULA & JABER DAY 02

So the 18th June saw day/part 02 of Roula & Jaber's spectacular French Riviera Wedding Photography with a move inland to the village of La Colle-sur-Loup.
We started with Roula's preparations at the Restaurant Alain Lorca prior to the small/intimate ceremony at the local mairie and then onto the much larger church wedding. Whilst we were photographing and filming Roula's bridal preparations, we were fed possibly the best fresh pizza (topped with thin slices of white and black truffle) we have ever tasted.
This was followed by a garden drinks reception in the grounds of Hotel L'Abbaye where the champagne flowed, the canapes were exquisite and the guests were entertained by a violin and accordian player. A beautiful meal & speeches (must have been 20 and in at least 3 different languages) followed on the internal terrace...and yet another very very late night!

Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild Wedding Photography, Roula & Jaber Day 03
VILLA EPHRUSSI DE ROTHSCHILD WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY, ROULA & JABER DAY 03

On Day 03, Roula & Jaber upped the ante even further with their Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild Wedding Photography and revealed the most spectacular of days with a move to this stunning venue on Cap Ferrat.
Day 01 was great, - a relaxed late afternoon/early evening beachfront vibe, followed by the slightly more formal actual wedding day that took place in La Colle Sur Loup, but it had all been building to this, the most spectacular of the 3 days.
The chateau is a beautiful pink and white confection of a building sat in elegantly landscaped grounds of fountains and fragrant flower beds.
At one stage, I really thought the work we did with them during 'the golden hour' wasn't going to happen as they had so many distractions, but as the sun was setting, we headed off for a few minutes into the gardens and the golden pictures produced speak for themselves.
Roula & Jaber were then led by the guitar playing musicians through the grounds to another drinks reception followed by an outdoor meal on the terrace in front of the venue finishing with a pretty amazing indoor party.
Overall and no disrespect to any of our other clients, this was quite simply the most stunning wedding we have had the privilege to attend.

CANNES WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & FILMING

The 3 part presentation below is a typical example of the type of wedding film that we produce from Cannes Wedding Photography & Filming.
Roula & Jaber's absolutely stunning Côte d'Azur based Cannes Wedding Photography & Filming by Firehorse Photography, took place at a number of venues including; La Festival du Plage, La Colle sur Loup and Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild and their wedding photography can be viewed by clicking any of the following links (though we'd suggest you start with Part 01!):

When we first arrived, we spent some time carrying out a recce of all 3 days principal venues and locations and both photographed and filmed some background material at each.On this particular trip, in addition to the latest digital equipment, we went a bit 'old school' and brought an old (1970's) Super8 film camera and shot 2 rolls of film that ended up becoming the starting point for each of the 3 days productions.A bit different, a bit fun, - it really showed up the difference just how good the current (digital) tech is, but it was great to get a little nostalgic contrast into the production!

I've been photographing weddings in France now for 6-7 years and have covered weddings to date in the following regions; Gascony, Loire, Dordogne, Provence and Côte d'Azur and they have all been some of the most welcoming and visually exciting weddings that I have attended.
We are very fortunate to have a family home in the beautiful village of La Romieu that we use as a base for photographing weddings in the region and plan to move there full-time at some point in the near future.
The area (mid way between Bordeaux and Toulouse, about 2 hours or so South of the Dordogne and 3 hours North of the Pyrenees) has a couple of really special venues that cater for weddings and these are: Chateau de Lisse and Castelnau des Fieumarcon with the former being a delightful typical chateau and the latter an entire wedding village!
So if you are looking for a Wedding Photographer France, we'd be very pleased to hear from you and discuss your plans with you, whatever stage they are at.You can call us on 01439 788150 or use the contact form.

Dordogne Wedding Photography at Chateau de la Bourlie, Kat & Tom
DORDOGNE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY AT CHATEAU DE LA BOURLIE, KAT & TOM

Kat & Tom's Dordogne Wedding Photography took place at the delightful Chateau de la Bourlie in the heart of the Perigord region of the Dordogne.
The blue skies and golden sunshine of the 15th September (and previous 6 weeks) disappeared on the 16th September, the day of Kat & Tom's wedding, but spirits were not diminished.
It did mean the previously planned outdoor ceremony had to shift into the small chapel which was a bit of a squeeze for the 80+ guests, but the rain was at least only occasional and very light.
Coverage of this wedding was 2 days as all our weddings in France tend to be (sometimes 3 days) with landscape/scene-setting photography on the morning of the 15th and then an exclusive 'get to know you' photo-shoot around the venue in the late afternoon, before discrete documentary coverage in the evening in a nearby village. We enjoy these 'pre-wedding' days almost as much as the wedding day itself as they tend to be very relaxed affairs and allow us to immerse ourselves quietly into the wedding which allows us to produce better results from the wedding day itself.
This wedding was planned by Stéphanie of www.jarretierreintheair.com and her team and they certainly put on a great event that culminated in the evening with a display of fire-dancers! If you do one thing, watch the last of the films below and you'll see what I mean!!
Photographing and filming Kat & Tom's wedding in France was a real privilege and the entire wedding party (a lot of partying Aussies as the bride and her family are Australian) were very welcoming and accommodating letting us share the 2 days that we were there.
Kat & Tom's wedding film can be viewed by clicking this link.

Chateau de la Bourlie Wedding Photography & Wedding Film
CHATEAU DE LA BOURLIE WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY & WEDDING FILMING

In September, we had the privilege of being commissioned for Kat & Tom's Chateau de la Bourlie Wedding Photography & Wedding Film. This 4 part wedding film above is a typical example of the kind of work that we produce from the weddings we photograph & film in France.
This particular production was from Kat & Tom's Chateau de la Bourlie wedding that took place in September and the actual photography part of the results from this gorgeous wedding can be viewed by clicking on this link.
We are quite fortunate to have a second home and base in France in the delightful Gascon village of La Romieu, but for this Dordogne wedding, it was just a little too far to commute each day, so we stayed in a lovely little B&B in the village where Part 01 of Kat & Tom's wedding took place.
The only problem we all had was that on the day, the weather was not the greatest. After around 6 weeks of sunshine, we were given the first grey and at times, slightly damp day of the late Summer, but it didn't dampen the spirit of the wedding too much, - simply the outdoor part moved indoors.

Anniversary Photo-Shoot Paris, Laura & Luke
ANNIVERSARY PHOTO-SHOOT PARIS, LAURA & LUKE

This Anniversary Photo-Shoot Paris features a lovely couple, Laura & Luke.
Luke proposed to childhood sweetheart Laura in Paris (they met at kindergarten!).
One year later, Luke's mother married them in a civil ceremony in Scotland at The Roman Camp hotel in Callander, Stirlingshire.I took their wedding pictures which can be viewed here. and a beautiful ceremony and Autumnal day it was.
One year after that, I found myself in Paris photographing their first wedding anniversary, - the above pictures speak for themselves, but this one was a real love story. We started in Montematre before moving on to the banks of the River Seine and the Ille de Notre Dame and then both the Tuilerie Gardens and the Luxembourg Gardens, finishing with the Champ du Mars and Trocodero, both affording spectacular views of the Eiffel Tower.
I don't know exactly what it is about Paris, but I have always found myself drawn to the place and I spend as much time there as possible with these Anniversary Photo-Shoot Paris affairs being a great excuse to visit the city.
Simon Mark Whitten is available for Anniversary Photo-Shoot Paris photography in the following formats; engagement, pre-wedding, honeymoon and anniversary with various examples below:
Fiona & Yorke's engagement photo-shoot in ParisSam & Andy's pre-wedding photo-shoot in ParisWinnie & Sean's honeymoon photo-shoot in Paris
Paris Honeymoon Photography, Winnie & Sean
PARIS HONEYMOON PHOTOGRAPHY, WINNIE & SEAN

Winnie & Sean were married in their home country of Malaysia before travelling to France for their Paris Honeymoon Photography, which is where I met up with them for part of what was a rather grey and at times, slightly wet day.
However, the inclement weather did not prevent us getting a great set of results from their Paris Honeymoon Photography from some of my favourite locations; Montmatre, the river Seine and Notre Dame, plus the park gardens of the Tuileries, the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower.
I used to live and work in London in the early 1990's, but I still know (and love) Paris much more as I find it a more intimate and open (space) city. And that myth about Parisian rudeness? Well I haven't come across it any more than in any other city in the world.
Simon Mark Whitten of Firehorse Photography is available for Paris Honeymoon Photography plus engagement, pre-wedding and anniversary photography and below are various examples:
Fiona & Yorke's Paris engagement photo-shootSam & Andy's Paris pre-wedding photo-shootLaura & Luke's Paris anniversary photo-shoot

Pre-Wedding Paris Photography, Sam & Andy
PRE-WEDDING PARIS PHOTOGRAPHY, SAM & ANDY

Sam & Andy's wedding took place in May at church in Old Malton followed by a reception at the stunning Castle Howard, North Yorkshire. Prior to that, I had the pleasure of spending a day in Paris with the couple and their Pre-Wedding Paris Photography.
The results from Sam & Andy's wedding can be viewed by clicking this link and a beautiful wedding it was.
The images above feature some of our favourite locations in Paris for a pre-wedding photo-shoot including; Montmatre, the banks of the Seine with Notre Dame in the background, the Tuileries and Luxembourg gardens and the Champ du Mars with it's wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower.
As a photographer, I am drawn back to Paris time and time again. It's a magical city and my favourite in which to spend a few days, each time revealing something new and unexplored.
Simon Mark Whitten of Firehorse Photography is available for Pre-Wedding Paris Photography and in the following flavours; engagement, pre-wedding, wedding, honeymoon and anniversary photo-shoots with examples below:

Paris Engagement Photography, Fiona & Yorke
PARIS ENGAGEMENT PHOTOGRAPHY, FIONA & YORKE

Fiona & Yorke were married at Ripon Cathedral followed by a reception at Duncombe Park in June, but prior to their wedding, I had the honour of performing their Paris Engagement Photography the previous October.
The results from their wedding can be viewed here on our UK site by clicking this link.
The weather was very kind to us and we had a great day around some of the major sites of Paris including; Montmatre, the Ille de Notre Dame, the banks of the river Seine, the Jardins Tuileries and Jardins du Luxembourg, plus of course the Eiffel Tower itself.
Paris is an amazing place for photography (or just hanging out) no matter what the weather or season and each year I try to spend at least a few days in this wonderful and easily accessible city. Also, every time you think you might just have discovered it all, it gives up another secret and there are one or two places I didn't even know existed previously, on my list of places to visit this Spring.
