...is extremely limited. In fact I can accommodate just 1 more booking and then that’s it, 2022 diary closed.
Remaining:
April = FULL
May = 3rd weekend available
June = FULL
July = FULL
Aug = FULL
Sep = FULL
Oct = 1st weekend booked, but possibly available after that…
It's a good looking season/year with 7 new venues I have never been to before and 2 new countries to add to the list of 12 I have already worked in.
I'm away from home for (as things stand) 60+ nights (so basically 1/6th of the entire year or 1/3rd of the season) and home for just 5 nights in August. Eek.
Roll on 2022!
2022? What on earth are you talking about man? Do you not know it’s 2023 already and 2022 is consigned to the scrapheap of yesteryear?
Well yes, actually I do but after the monumentally busy year that last year was (I was on the road and shooting weddings for over 2 months is total with another 8+ months editing that little lot) and then moving house, I haven’t had much time to update the website/blog.
But we are now 2 weeks into 2023 and remaining availability is ZERO. BIG FAT ZERO.
Well actually, that is a slight fib and here is the actual availability. And why…
Because all of my weddings these days are hybrid, ie, BOTH photography AND video, my workload from each event is double (that of a photographer or videographer).
Factor in pretty much all couples book me for 2 or 3 days coverage and I can spend anything from typically 2 hours to a full day just travelling to, never mind back from, a wedding, my workload is pretty high. As above, I am on the road for more than 1/6th of every year.
I now cap my annual bookings at 20 events per annum because that is the equivalent of a typical 9-5, x5 days a week, salaried job. Regarding working hours anyway.
On that basis, I am fully booked for 2023 thank you. Nope, don’t really want to do any more than that because…well because it’s also important to have a life. I love my craft and am 100%+ committed to it, but even I have to draw a line for my own and my families sake.
I do however have 10 prime dates remaining in as far as the calendar goes…
If someone comes along and says, “hey Simon, we appreciate you are ‘technically’ fully booked, but we utterly love your work and want you and only you”, it is possible I might have my arm twisted…
Realistically, I am going to need a compelling reason though such as unique event or location.
Otherwise, if I don’t fill even a single one of those ‘10 remaining prime dates’, I am happy with my 20 targeted bookings.
2024? Approaching 50% capacity…
